his is a 144MHz band SSB/CW
1W portable transceiver released by NEC (New Nippon Electric).
At the time, there was the original NEC and New Nippon Electric...later
known as NEC Home Electronics.
This was released by New Nippon Electric, a home appliance brand that
started out with lighting fixtures.
Configuration of this unit:
A VXO that covers one band, 50KHz is used.
IF: 9MHz single conversion.
It was the latest design at the time, using a lot of Mos-type FETs and
double-balanced ICs.
A full-fledged noise blanker is also used, and the dial illumination has a
10-second delay, but CW transmission is done manually...by a microphone
press-to-talk switch. A
helical antenna is provided along with a rod antenna.
The optional
helical antenna is included with the SB-2X, but is included as standard with
the CQ-P2600.VXO
DESIGN
: With the SB-2X, one band is 200KHz wide, with 10KHz per dial division
. Two crystals cover 144.000-144.400MHz, and the remaining two switchable
crystals are optional.
With the CQ-P2600, one band is 50KHz, with 2.5KHz per dial division.
Four bands cover 144.100-144.300MHz (four crystals required).Fixed
CHANNELS
: Not available with the SB-2X (only band crystals are available as an
option).
With the CQ-P2600, four channels can be switched. A switch for switching
between VXO and fixed CH is available.Nic
CHARGING
: With the SB-2X, a transformer is built in so that it can be connected
directly to AC100V (charging cable included).
When it comes to charging the CQ-P2600, whether it's DC 13.8V or charged
externally
