Dak Mark X SSB CB Radio Vintage 1978

Dak Mark X AM/USB/LSB CB Radio Vintage 1978-1979 year

This is a Dak Mark X SSB CB radio that I acquired along with a few other base station CB radios from the 1970's era. I could not pass up the deal. This radio was not working when I powered it up. I was able to trace the problem to a cold solder joint on the board with the help of the schematic diagram that thankfully came with the radio along with the alignment instructions. I don't think this is really a great preforming radio but it sure looks great and is fun to have sitting in the shack.

Vacum tube used is the 6L6GC.

DAK Mark IX Radiotelephone is a vintage base station CB radio that operates on the 40-channel citizens band frequency. Manufactured by DAK in the 1970s, it was a popular and reliable radio system.

Key Features

  • Type: Base station radio transceiver.
  • Channels: 40 channels.
  • Frequency Band: Operates on the 27-Mhz CB band.
  • Power Requirement: Requires 120 VAC power.
  • Technology: Incorporates a frequency synthesizer circuit with phase-lock loop for precise channel control.
  • Features: Often included features like an Automatic Noise Limiter (ANL).
  • Era: Popular in the 1970s and 1980s.

Collectibility

The DAK Mark IX is considered a classic item among radio communication enthusiasts and collectors. Due to its age, units found today are typically pre-owned and their condition can vary from fully operational to needing repair or restoration.
